SEE ALSO...

C1q-C Antibody (A-12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects C1q-C protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). C1q-C (A-12) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. C1q-C protein is a crucial component of the classical complement pathway, which is essential for the immune response, as C1q-C protein facilitates the opsonization of pathogens and the clearance of immune complexes. Structurally, C1q is composed of nine subunits that form a unique bouquet-like structure, with six subunits existing as disulfide-linked dimers of chains A and B, while three subunits, designated C1q-A through C1q-C, are disulfide-linked dimers of chain C. This distinctive structure enables C1q to effectively bind to antibodies and pathogens, initiating the complement cascade. C1q interaction with receptors on effector cells can modulate immune responses, which may be antibody-dependent or independent, highlighting C1q′s role in both promoting and regulating inflammation. C1q is primarily produced by macrophages, and C1q expression can be influenced by anti-inflammatory drugs and cytokines, indicating C1q′s importance in maintaining immune homeostasis. Deficiencies in C1q-C, along with C1q-A and C1q-B, can lead to a rare genetic disorder characterized by lupus-like symptoms, underscoring C1q-C′s critical role in immune function and regulation.

Was tested whether this antibody also detects murine C1q? Best regards

Asked by: maabeln
Thank you for your question. We have not yet tested this antibody, C1q-C (A-12): sc-365301, for detection if C1q-C in mouse samples and so this species reactivity is not recommended at this time.
