c-Myc Antibody (Myc.A7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody raised against amino acids 410-419 of human c-Myc. Anti-c-Myc monoclonal antibody (Myc.A7) recognizes an epitope within the C-terminal region containing critical functional domains and demonstrates effectiveness in Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and immunoprecipitation applications. c-Myc (Myc.A7) antibody serves as a powerful tool for investigating c-Myc expression patterns, activity, and regulatory mechanisms in both normal and diseased states. The c-Myc protein, encoded by the MYC gene, belongs to the Myc family of transcription factors, which includes N-Myc and L-Myc. c-Myc functions as a central regulator of gene expression, influencing cellular processes including cell proliferation, differentiation, apoptosis, and metabolism. c-Myc exerts these effects by binding to specific DNA sequences, particularly E-box elements (CACGTG), through the basic helix-loop-helix leucine zipper (bHLH-Zip) domain. This domain enables c-Myc to form heterodimers with Max protein, a critical partner necessary for c-Myc DNA-binding activity. The c-Myc/Max complex regulates the transcription of numerous genes involved in cell cycle progression, particularly during the G1 to S phase transition, and promotes metabolic reprogramming to support rapid cell growth. Beyond normal cellular functions, c-Myc acts as a proto-oncogene, and c-Myc dysregulation is implicated in a wide range of cancers. Overexpression of c-Myc, often resulting from gene amplification or chromosomal translocation, has been observed in many human tumors, including those of the lung, breast, colon, and hematopoietic system, contributing to uncontrolled cellular proliferation, resistance to apoptosis, and tumor progression. c-Myc mouse monoclonal antibody (Myc.A7) provides researchers with insights into oncogenic signaling pathways and potential therapeutic targets for cancer treatment, making c-Myc (Myc.A7) antibody an essential reagent for exploring c-Myc roles in cellular biology and tumorigenesis.

I am using c-Myc (Myc.A7): sc-56634 for immunofluorescence, what dilution of this antibody should I use?

Asked by: Randy McDonald
Thank you for your question. We recommend a starting dilution of 1:50. However, optimal antibody concentration should be determined by titration. Please find our full immunofluorescence protocol here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunofluorescence-cell-staining
