C. abortus MOMP Antibody (4/11) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects C. abortus MOMP protein of C. abortus origin by western blotting (WB), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-C. abortus MOMP antibody (4/11) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. The major outer membrane protein (MOMP) of Chlamydophila abortus plays a crucial role in the bacterium′s ability to evade the host immune response, making MOMP a significant factor in the pathogenesis of infections. MOMP is a highly immunogenic protein that forms a trimeric structure, which is essential for maintaining the integrity of the bacterial outer membrane and facilitating interactions with host cells. This structural characteristic allows MOMP to serve as a target for the host′s immune system while also playing a role in the bacterium′s adhesion and invasion processes. Chlamydophila abortus, also known as Chlamydia psittaci, is a gram-negative intracellular bacterium that colonizes the placenta of animals, leading to abortion during the late stages of gestation. As an enzootic and zoonotic pathogen, C. abortus contains 961 genes arranged in a circularized structure, with 842 genes conserved with Chlamydophila caviae and Chlamydophila pneumoniae. The host tropism and disease causation of C. abortus are attributed to transmembrane helical proteins and polymorphic membrane proteins, with MOMP encoded by the ompA gene, underscoring MOMP′s importance in research and diagnostic applications related to chlamydial infections.
