Bora Antibody (H-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Bora protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Bora (H-4) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Bora protein, also known as aurora borealis, is a crucial 559 amino acid protein that plays a significant role in activating Aurora related kinase-1 (ARK-1), a centrosome-associated serine/threonine kinase essential for proper mitotic processes. Bora is primarily localized in the nucleus until mitosis onset, when Bora translocates to the cytoplasm through regulation by activated Cdc2. This translocation enables Bora to bind and activate ARK-1, facilitating centrosome separation, bipolar spindle assembly, and chromosome segregation during cell division. Bora also interacts with polo-like kinase (Plk), which modulates activation loop accessibility for phosphorylation by ARK-1, influencing mitotic entry timing. Disruption of Bora expression leads to multipolar spindle formation during mitosis, a defect also observed when ARK-1 activity is inhibited, highlighting the critical interplay between these proteins in maintaining genomic stability during cell division.
