    SEE ALSO...

BoNT/B Antibody (GR-3G7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects the BoNT/B protein of Clostridium botulinum origin by flow cytometry (FCM) and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-BoNT/B antibody (GR-3G7) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. BoNT/B protein, also known as Botulinum neurotoxin type B, is a highly toxic 1,291 amino acid secreted protein that plays a critical role in the pathogenesis of botulism, a rare but severe paralytic illness caused by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. BoNT/B exists as a disulfide-linked heterodimer composed of a heavy chain and a light chain, which is essential for function. The heavy chain facilitates binding to neuronal synapses, while the light chain acts as an endopeptidase that cleaves specific neuronal proteins, such as VAMP-2, thereby inhibiting neurotransmitter release like acetylcholine. This mechanism leads to the characteristic flaccid paralysis associated with botulism, highlighting the importance of understanding BoNT/B′s structure and function in both clinical and research settings. BoNT/B monoclonal antibody (GR-3G7) enables effective study of this potent neurotoxin′s interactions and effects, contributing to the broader understanding of its role in neuromuscular disorders.
