Biperiden hydrochloride is a muscarinic receptor (mAChR M) antagonist that displays some selectivity for the mAChR M1 subtype. Biperiden hydrochloride acts by blocking the action of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter. It binds to muscarinic receptors, which are involved in the regulation of muscle movement, and inhibits their activation. This leads to a decrease in the release of acetylcholine.
