β-Actin Antibody (2A3) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody raised against a KLH-coupled peptide fragment corresponding to the C-terminal region of human β-Actin. β-Actin monoclonal antibody (2A3) detects β-Actin of mouse, rat, and human origin and is suitable for applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP). β-Actin (2A3) antibody is available in both non-conjugated form and multiple conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. β-Actin is a highly conserved protein that often constitutes up to 50% of total cellular protein in eukaryotic cells. As a major component of the cytoskeleton′s microfilaments, β-Actin plays a critical role in maintaining cell structure, integrity, and motility. Located predominantly in the cytoplasm, β-Actin is involved in essential cellular processes such as muscle contraction, cell division, and the formation of microvilli and the contractile apparatus of muscle cells. In higher eukaryotes, multiple Actin isoforms are encoded by a family of genes, with at least six types present in mammalian tissues that fall into three classes: α-Actin is primarily expressed in muscle tissues, while β-Actin and γ-Actin are the principal constituents of filaments in other cell types. The organization of the Actin cytoskeleton is regulated by members of the small GTPase family, Rho controls the assembly of Actin stress fibers and focal adhesions, Rac regulates Actin filament accumulation at the plasma membrane, and Cdc42 stimulates the formation of filopodia. Understanding β-Actin function and localization is crucial, as β-Actin serves as an important internal control in protein expression studies, and disruptions in β-Actin dynamics are associated with various diseases, including cancer and cardiovascular disorders.
