β-1,3-Gal-TL Antibody (C-1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects β-1,3-Gal-TL protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). β-1,3-Gal-TL (C-1) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. β-1,3-Gal-TL , also known as β 1,3-glycosyltransferase-like, B3GTL, B3Glc-T, or Gal-T, is a crucial O-fucosyltransferase predominantly expressed in the testis and uterus, where β-1,3-Gal-TL plays a significant role in glycan biosynthesis. β-1,3-Gal-TL is a single-pass type II membrane protein localized to the endoplasmic reticulum, where β-1,3-Gal-TL is involved in elongating O-fucosylglycans on thrombosin Type 1 repeat (TSR) domains. By adding glucose from UDP-glucose to a specific α-linked fucose in correctly folded TSRs, β-1,3-Gal-TL recognizes particular protein conformations rather than relying solely on amino acid sequences, highlighting β-1,3-Gal-TL′s importance in cellular signaling and protein interactions. Belonging to the glycosyltransferase 31 family, β-1,3-Gal-TL is conserved across species from Caenorhabditis elegans to humans and shares 28% homology with the Fringe protein. β-1,3-Gal-TL′s catalytic activity depends on a critical DXD motif, and β-1,3-Gal-TL features a KDEL-like REEL sequence at its C-terminal, which is essential for function. Notably, mutations in the gene encoding β-1,3-Gal-TL have been linked to Peters Plus syndrome, underscoring β-1,3-Gal-TL′s significance in human health and disease.
