BAF57 Antibody (6G11) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects BAF57 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-BAF57 antibody (6G11) is available as the non-conjugated format. BAF57 plays a crucial role in the SWI/SNF chromatin remodeling complex, which is essential for the regulation of gene expression through the alteration of nucleosome structure in an ATP-dependent manner. This complex is vital for various cellular processes, including differentiation, proliferation, and response to external signals. BAF57 is particularly important as BAF57 interacts with other key components of the SWI/SNF complex, such as Brm and Brg-1, which are ATPase subunits that provide the energy necessary for chromatin remodeling. BAF57′s high-mobility-group (HMG) domain and kinesin-like region allow for effective DNA binding and recruitment of additional factors necessary for transcriptional activation. Notably, BAF57 gene is located in the q12-25 region of chromosome 17, an area associated with breast and ovarian cancers, highlighting BAF57′s significance in cancer biology and potential as a therapeutic target.
