Ataxin-2 Antibody (A-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgM kappa antibody that detects Ataxin-2 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Ataxin-2 antibody (A-6) is available as a non-conjugated antibody. Ataxin-2 plays a crucial role in RNA metabolism and is involved in the regulation of gene expression, making Ataxin-2 essential for normal cellular function. Ataxin-2 is primarily located in the cytoplasm, particularly in Purkinje cells of the cerebellum, where Ataxin-2 participates in RNA splicing and interacts with various RNA-binding proteins. Ataxin-2 has been shown to interact with ataxin-2-binding-protein 1 (A2BP1), which is also expressed in muscle and brain tissues, highlighting Ataxin-2′s importance in maintaining neuronal health and function. Aggregation of Ataxin-2 due to expanded polyglutamine tracts can lead to the formation of toxic inclusions, underscoring the significance of studying Ataxin-2 in the context of neurodegenerative diseases.
