ASB-5 Antibody (E-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody specific for an epitope mapping between amino acids 224-250 of ASB-5 of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). ASB-5 monoclonal antibody (E-8) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. ASB-5, or ankyrin repeat and SOCS box-containing 5, is a 329 amino acid protein that plays a crucial role in cellular signaling and protein degradation pathways. ASB-5 is characterized by the presence of six ankyrin repeats and one SOCS box domain, which are essential for interaction with SOCS proteins and the Elongin BC complex, a key component in E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase complexes. ASB-5′s function as a substrate-recognition component of an SCF-like Elongin-Cullin-SOCS-box protein E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase complex is vital for regulating ubiquitination and subsequent proteasomal degradation of target proteins, thereby influencing various cellular processes, including arteriogenesis initiation. Conserved across multiple species, including chimpanzees, dogs, cows, mice, rats, chickens, and zebrafish, ASB-5 is encoded by a gene located on human chromosome 4q34.2, highlighting evolutionary significance and potential as a therapeutic target in diseases related to protein misregulation.
