ARPP-21 Antibody (B-1) is a mouse monoclonal IgM antibody that detects ARPP-21 of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-ARPP-21 antibody (B-1) is available as the non-conjugated form. ARPP-21, also known as RCS or TARPP (thymocyte cAMP-regulated phosphoprotein), is an 812 amino acid protein that plays a crucial role in cellular signaling pathways by acting as a competitive inhibitor of calmodulin-dependent enzymes, such as calcineurin. This inhibition is particularly important in regulating calcium signaling, which is vital for various cellular processes including T cell activation and neuronal signaling. ARPP-21 is expressed in immature thymocytes and brain tissue, and contains one R3H domain, which is implicated in RNA binding and regulation. ARPP-21 exists in six alternatively spliced isoforms, highlighting functional diversity. Additionally, human ARPP-21 shares 89% sequence similarity with rat and bovine counterparts, indicating a conserved role across species. The gene encoding ARPP-21 is located on human chromosome 3, a region rich in genes associated with various biological functions, including a cluster of chemokine receptor genes and several loci related to human cancers.
