apoE Antibody (E-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that recognizes an epitope near the C-terminus of apolipoprotein E (apoE), specifically between amino acids 293-318 in human samples. Apolipoprotein E (apoE) plays a crucial role in lipid metabolism, particularly in the binding, internalization, and catabolism of lipoprotein particles. One of the significant post-translational modifications of apoE is glycosylation, which impacts stability and interaction with receptors such as the LDL receptor. This modification is vital as glycosylation affects apoE′s ability to mediate cholesterol transport and lipid clearance, processes that are central to maintaining lipid homeostasis and preventing lipid accumulation in tissues. Additionally, phosphorylation of apoE at specific sites can influence interaction with lipoproteins, further regulating biological activity. anti-apoE antibody (E-8) is reactive with both precursor and mature forms of apoE and has been validated for use in western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). apoE monoclonal antibody (E-8) serves as an excellent tool for studying regulation and post-translational modifications of apoE, which are critical for understanding roles in lipid metabolism and associated diseases.

What application is the blocking peptide sc-393302 P appropriate for?

Asked by: Professor Griffin
Thank you for your question. The blocking peptide is intended for use as a negative control, by pre-adsorbing the mouse monoclonal antibody against the antigen. For full protocol details, please contact our Technical Services Department or view our online protocol here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/peptide-neutralization
