AOX1 Antibody (D-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects AOX1 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). AOX1 Antibody (D-8) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. AOX1, or Aldehyde oxidase 1, is a crucial cytoplasmic enzyme composed of 1,338 amino acids that plays a significant role in the metabolism of aldehydes, catalyzing their oxidation and leading to the production of hydrogen peroxide. This enzymatic activity helps regulate oxidative stress within cells; however, under certain conditions, AOX1 can also generate superoxide free radicals, which are harmful and can contribute to cellular damage. AOX1 is involved in neurodegenerative diseases, particularly amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), where defects in oxygen radical metabolism have been implicated in disease pathogenesis. AOX1 is highly expressed in the ventral horn of the spinal cord, and the gene encoding AOX1 is located in a chromosomal region frequently associated with ALS2, suggesting a potential role as a candidate gene for this condition. Anti-AOX1 antibody (D-8) effectively detects this protein across various applications, making AOX1 (D-8) monoclonal antibody an essential tool for researchers studying oxidative stress and neurodegenerative diseases.

Can AOX1 (D-8): sc-365291 monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

Asked by: Trav11
Thank you for your question. Yes, AOX1 (D-8): sc-365291 has been validated for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
