Datasheets
  • αB-crystallin Antibody (C-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a κ provided at 200 µg/ml
  • specific for an epitope mapping between amino acids 117-152 within an internal region of αB-crystallin of human origin
  • recommended for detection of αB-crystallin of mouse, rat and human origin by WB, IP, IF and ELISA; also reactive with additional species, including porcine
  • m-IgG Fc BP-HRP, m-IgG2a BP-HRP and m-IgGκ BP-HRP are the preferred secondary detection reagents for αB-crystallin Antibody (C-5) for WB applications. These reagents are now offered in bundles with αB-crystallin Antibody (C-5) (see ordering information below).

    SEE ALSO...

αB-crystallin Antibody (C-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects αB-crystallin in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). αB-crystallin is a member of the small heat shock protein family and plays a crucial role in cellular stress response by acting as a molecular chaperone, preventing the aggregation of denatured proteins and maintaining cellular protein homeostasis. This function is particularly important in tissues that are subject to high levels of stress, such as the heart and skeletal muscle, where elevated expression of αB-crystallin has been linked to various neurological diseases. Notably, a missense mutation in the αB-crystallin gene has been associated with Desmin-related myopathy, highlighting its significance in muscle integrity and function. The unique structure of αB-crystallin, which includes a conserved α-crystallin domain, allows αB-crystallin to interact with a variety of client proteins, thereby influencing their stability and activity. Anti-αB-crystallin antibody (C-5) is an essential tool for researchers studying the role of αB-crystallin in health and disease, providing insights into its involvement in cellular protection mechanisms and potential therapeutic targets.
