ALDH18A1 Antibody (G-10) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects ALDH18A1 of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). ALDH18A1 (G-10) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. ALDH18A1 , also known as glutamate gamma-semialdehyde synthetase or P5CS, plays a crucial role in the biosynthesis of proline, arginine, and ornithine, which are essential amino acids involved in various metabolic processes. ALDH18A1 is primarily located in the inner mitochondrial membrane, where ALDH18A1 catalyzes the conversion of glutamate to Delta1-pyrroline-5-carboxylate, a key step in proline metabolism. ALDH18A1′s location is significant due to involvement in mitochondrial function and energy metabolism, as disruptions in this pathway can lead to metabolic disorders. Alternative splicing of the ALDH18A1 gene results in two isoforms, with the longer isoform being widely expressed and the shorter isoform predominantly active in the gut. Mutations in the ALDH18A1 gene can lead to P5CS deficiency, a condition characterized by progressive joint laxity, neurodegeneration, bilateral subcapsular cataracts, and skin hyperelasticity, highlighting ALDH18A1′s significance in human health.
