ALB Antibody (AL-01) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody designed to detect albumin, also known as human serum albumin (HSA) or ALB, through western blotting (WB) and immunoprecipitation (IP) applications in human samples. Albumin is the most abundant protein in blood plasma and plays a pivotal role in maintaining the colloidal osmotic pressure of blood, which is essential for regulating the distribution of fluids between blood vessels and tissues. ALB protein has an exceptional binding capacity for a variety of ligands, including water, fatty acids, calcium, sodium, bilirubin, hormones, potassium, and numerous drugs, facilitating their transport and delivery throughout the body. Synthesized in the liver, albumin is initially produced as preproalbumin, which undergoes enzymatic processing to become the mature, secreted form. Albumin′s functional integrity is crucial for sustaining blood volume and pressure, as well as for the efficient transport of vital nutrients and metabolites. Additionally, albumin′s ability to bind and transport hormones like thyroxine underscores its importance in endocrine regulation. Mutations in the ALB gene can lead to hereditary conditions such as familial dysalbuminemic hyperthyroxinemia (FDH), characterized by an increased affinity of albumin for thyroid hormones, resulting in euthyroid hyperthyroxinemia. Anti-ALB antibody (AL-01) aids researchers in exploring albumin-related physiological processes and pathological conditions.
