Akt1/2/3 Antibody (BDI111) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects Akt1/2/3 in human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB) and immunoprecipitation (IP). Akt1/2/3, members of the serine/threonine kinase Akt family, play a crucial role in various cellular processes, including metabolism, cell proliferation, and survival, making Akt1/2/3 vital for maintaining cellular homeostasis and responding to growth factor signals. The structure of Akt proteins is characterized by a pleckstrin homology domain, which is essential for Akt protein activation and localization to the plasma membrane upon stimulation by growth factors like insulin and platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF). This structural feature allows Akt proteins to interact with phosphoinositides, facilitating recruitment to the membrane where phosphorylation and activation by upstream kinases occur. The phosphorylation of specific residues, such as Thr 308 and Ser 473, is critical for achieving full enzymatic activity, underscoring the importance of Akt′s structural integrity in function. Anti-Akt1/2/3 antibody (BDI111) is an invaluable tool for researchers studying the intricate signaling pathways involving Akt and their implications in various diseases, including cancer and metabolic disorders.

I am using Akt1/2/3 (BDI111): sc-56878 antibody for immunoprecipitation, how much antibody should I use?

Asked by: AbPolly
Thank you for your question. We recommend using 1–10 µl (i.e., 0.2–2 µg) of antibody with 1 ml of cell lysate. However, optimal antibody concentration should be determined by titration. Please find our full immunoprecipitation protocol here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoprecipitation-western-blots
