    SEE ALSO...

AKR1A1 Antibody (E-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects AKR1A1 of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-AKR1A1 antibody (E-9) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. AKR1A1, also known as aldo-keto reductase family 1 member A1, aldehyde reductase, dihydrodiol dehydrogenase 3, or alcohol dehydrogenase, is a crucial enzyme in the aldo-keto reductase family, which consists of soluble NADPH-dependent oxidoreductases. These enzymes are vital for the metabolism of drugs, carcinogens, and reactive aldehydes, highlighting their importance in detoxification processes. AKR1A1 primarily functions as a monomer and is particularly efficient in catalyzing the reduction of medium-chain and aromatic aldehydes to their corresponding alcohols. Additionally, AKR1A1 plays a significant role in the biosynthetic pathways of cholesterol and triglycerides, as well as in the activation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), making AKR1A1 an essential protein for maintaining cellular homeostasis and responding to environmental toxins.

Can AKR1A1 (E-9): sc-271723 monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

    Asked by: Cweed
Thank you for your question. Yes, AKR1A1 (E-9): sc-271723 has been validated for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
