AKAP 12 Antibody (C-12) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects AKAP 12 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). AKAP 12 (C-12) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. A-kinase anchor protein 12 (AKAP12), also known as Gravin, Ssecks, and AKAP250, is a 1,782 amino acid protein that plays a crucial role in cell signaling by serving as a scaffold for the compartmentalization of protein kinase A (PKA) and protein kinase C (PKC). This localization is vital for the regulation of various cellular processes, including cell growth and differentiation, as AKAP12 ensures that these kinases are positioned near their specific substrates, thereby enhancing the efficiency and specificity of signal transduction pathways. AKAP12 is predominantly expressed in endothelial cells, cultured fibroblasts, and osteosarcoma cells, with expression noted in the cell cortex and cytoskeleton, while remaining absent in platelets, leukocytes, monocytic cell lines, and peripheral blood cells. Notably, patients with myasthenia gravis (MG) can produce antibodies against the C-terminus of AKAP12, indicating AKAP12′s potential role in autoimmune responses. AKAP12 gene is conserved across several species, including chimpanzees, Rhesus monkeys, dogs, cows, mice, and rats, and maps to chromosome 6q25.1 in humans, highlighting evolutionary significance and potential implications in comparative biology studies.
