AGPS Antibody (A-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects AGPS protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). AGPS (A-2) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. AGPS protein, also known as alkyldihydroxyacetonephosphate synthase or aging-associated gene 5 protein, is a crucial enzyme consisting of 658 amino acids that plays a vital role in glycerolipid metabolism and ether lipid biosynthesis. Located on the inner aspect of the peroxisomal membrane, AGPS functions as part of a heterotrimeric complex alongside GNPAT and a modified form of GNPAT, which is essential for the synthesis of alkyl-glycerone 3-phosphate and long-chain acid anions from 1-acetyl-glycerone 3-phosphate and long-chain alcohols. A FAD-binding PCMH-type domain allows AGPS to utilize flavin adenine dinucleotide as a cofactor, underscoring its importance in metabolic pathways. Deficiencies in the gene encoding AGPS can lead to rhizomelic chondrodysplasia punctata type 3, a severe genetic disorder characterized by vertebral abnormalities, significant cognitive impairment, skin lesions, cataracts, and shortening of the humerus and femur.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Ab can be used ot investigage peroxisomal functionWe used the sc-374201 Alkylglyceronephosphate synthase (AGPS) antibody to investigate peroxisomal functions using western blotting. The AGPS ab used showed a clear and specific band in western blot that could be excellentiy used for quantification. AGPS protein expression was significantly higher compared to the expression of another testet protein.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from this antibody works very excellent for WBthis antibody works very excellent for WB. This antibody doesn t stain for lung tissues of mouse and human origin (IF didn t work). IF is not good though as mentioned from the data sheet as cytoplasmic staining, but this should stain peroxisomes, often they are clubbed and had lot of background staining.
