AGP-1/2 Antibody (F-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects AGP-1 and AGP-2 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). AGP-1/2 (F-4) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. α1-acid glycoprotein (AGP) plays a crucial role as an acute phase plasma protein synthesized primarily in the liver, where AGP regulates the interaction between blood cells and endothelial cells. This function is particularly important during infection and inflammation, as AGP, along with haptoglobin and C-reactive protein, facilitates the extravasation of immune cells to sites of injury or infection. AGP expression is significantly induced by acute-phase stimulatory agents, such as bacterial lipopolysaccharides, and AGP levels in human plasma typically range from 0.5 to 1.4 mg/ml, increasing during acute inflammatory responses, making AGP a valuable biomarker for diagnosing inflammatory conditions. AGP-1 and AGP-2 possess five and six potential N-glycosylation sites, respectively, which are critical for stability and function. Abnormal AGP-1 expression has been linked to sarcoidosis and other immunogenetic diseases, while AGP-2 mutations are associated with various carcinomas, highlighting AGP′s importance in both health and disease.
