SEE ALSO...

AFP Antibody (C3) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody designed to detect Alpha-fetoprotein (AFP), also known as Alpha 1 Fetoprotein or Alpha-fetoglobulin, across multiple species including mouse, rat, and human. Anti-AFP antibody (C3) targets the full-length AFP protein, recognizing amino acids 1-609, and is effective in various applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), flow cytometry (FCM), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). AFP plays a crucial role during fetal development, primarily expressed in the liver, and is typically present in minimal amounts in adult tissues. The significance of AFP lies in its elevated levels in hepatocellular carcinoma and other liver-related cancers, making AFP a vital tumor marker for early detection and monitoring of cancer progression. Additionally, AFP has the ability to bind essential metals like copper and nickel, as well as fatty acids, and may interact with serum albumin or estrogen, highlighting its multifunctional nature. The regulation of AFP expression involves key transcription factors such as NF-1, HNF-1, and C/EBP, where HNF-1 promotes AFP expression and NF-1 inhibits its promoter activity. AFP monoclonal antibody (C3) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® variants, providing flexibility for diverse experimental needs. Anti-AFP antibody (C3) is an essential tool for researchers studying liver development, cancer biology, and protein interactions involving AFP, ensuring accurate and reliable results in their investigations.

Dear Sir. I already have AFP Antibody (C3): sc-8399. now I want to stain IF in induce hepatocyte. please guide me what product I must buy more to do that purpose. thank you very much!

Asked by: Vanhanhnguyen
Thank you for your question. This antibody is recommended for IF in mouse, rat and human samples. There are many product citations using this antibody for IF staining. We have not specifically tested this antibody in induced hepatocytes, but if AFP is expressed in those samples, then this antibody should be suitable for detection.

Can this antibody be used for staining on mouse tissue?

Asked by: Anna99
Yes, by using a directly conjugated primary, you can stain on mouse tissue. This AFP antibody is available conjugated to HRP (sc-8399 HRP), 200 µg/ml, for WB, IHC(P) and ELISA; phycoerythrin (sc-8399 PE), fluorescein (sc-8399 FITC), Alexa Fluor® 488 (sc-8399 AF488) or Alexa Fluor® 647 (sc-8399 AF647), 200 µg/ml, for IF, IHC(P) and FCM.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Work well. The antibody work in IF at 1:100 for mouse primary liver cancer cells and hepa1-6 cells, but the FITC isn't especially positive through stained.Maybe the reasons cause by the low concentration of it. Other colleagues should try to increase the concentration if applying IF assay for hepatocarcinoma.(PS: It is known to all that hepa1-6 can express the AFP protein form ATCC)
