    SEE ALSO...

AFP Antibody (AFP05) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody designed to detect Alpha-fetoprotein (AFP), also known as Alpha 1 Fetoprotein or Alpha-fetoglobulin, with exceptional affinity for the full-length native human AFP protein. Anti-AFP antibody (AFP05) is validated for use in western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) applications, ensuring precise detection of human AFP in various experimental settings. AFP is a crucial glycoprotein primarily synthesized in the fetal liver, where its well-defined structure comprises multiple domains that facilitate binding to essential ligands such as copper, nickel, and fatty acids. This structural complexity is vital for AFP′s role in transporting these molecules within the cell and maintaining physiological balance during development. In adult tissues, AFP is typically present only in trace amounts, however, its expression is significantly elevated in hepatocellular carcinoma and other liver-related cancers, making AFP a critical biomarker for early cancer detection and monitoring tumor progression. The precise structure of AFP also allows AFP to interact with serum albumin and estrogen, highlighting AFP′s multifunctional nature and importance in various biological processes. Additionally, the regulation of AFP expression is controlled by key transcription factors including HNF-1, which promotes AFP expression, and NF-1, which inhibits AFP′s promoter activity. AFP monoclonal antibody (AFP05) provides researchers with a reliable tool to investigate AFP′s structural features, expression patterns, and functional interactions, thereby advancing studies in developmental biology, oncology, and protein interaction research. Anti-AFP antibody (AFP05) is an essential component for laboratories focused on understanding the intricate mechanisms of AFP-related pathways and their implications in health and disease.

What blocking solution should I use with AFP (AFP05): sc-69857 monoclonal antibody for Western blot?

    Asked by: Dr Ninau Qelp
Thank you for your question. We recommend blocking with Blotto (either TBS Blotto A: sc-2333 or TBS Blotto B: sc-2335). Our Western blot protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/western-immuno-blotting
