ADK Antibody (F-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects adenosine kinase (ADK) in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). ADK plays a crucial role in cellular metabolism by catalyzing the transfer of the gamma-phosphate from ATP to adenosine, thereby regulating the levels of both extracellular adenosine and intracellular adenine nucleotides. This regulation is vital as adenosine acts as an important extracellular signaling molecule, influencing various physiological processes across the cardiovascular, nervous, respiratory, and immune systems, particularly during tissue injury and inflammation. The human ADK gene, located on chromosome 10q11-q24, produces two isoforms of the enzyme, differing in their N-terminal sequences, yet both maintain identical kinetic properties and require magnesium ions for their activity. Notably, ADK′s ability to form soluble aggregates at higher concentrations can lead to enzyme inactivation, which underscores the importance of maintaining optimal conditions for its function. Anti-ADK antibody (F-5) is an essential tool for researchers studying the intricate roles of adenosine in health and disease.
