AChRα1 Antibody (152) is a rat monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects AChRα1 in mouse, rat, human, bovine, and Torpedo species by western blotting (WB) and immunofluorescence (IF). AChRα1, also known as ACHRD, CHRNA, CMS2A, FCCMS, SCCMS, or CHRNA1, is a crucial component of the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor family, which plays a vital role in neurotransmission. This multi-pass membrane protein consists of 482 amino acids and exists in two alternatively spliced isoforms, with isoform 1 being specifically expressed in skeletal muscle and isoform 2 found in a variety of tissues, including skeletal muscle, brain, heart, kidney, liver, lung, and thymus. AChRα1 at the postsynaptic membrane of the neuromuscular junction is essential for muscle contraction, as AChRα1 binds acetylcholine and facilitates ion flow through its transmembrane pore, thereby initiating muscle action. Additionally, AChRα1 activity is tightly regulated by the enzyme acetylcholinesterase, which hydrolyzes acetylcholine to terminate the signal, highlighting AChRα1′s importance in maintaining proper neuromuscular function and preventing excessive stimulation. Anti-AChRα1 antibody (152) is an invaluable tool for researchers studying the dynamics of neurotransmission and the physiological roles of nicotinic receptors in various biological contexts.
