SEE ALSO...

ACAA2 Antibody (192) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects ACAA2 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-ACAA2 antibody (192) is available as the non-conjugated isotype antibody. ACAA2, or acetyl-Coenzyme A acyltransferase 2, is a crucial enzyme in lipid metabolism, specifically involved in the fatty acid oxidation pathway. This 397 amino acid protein is localized in the mitochondrion, where ACAA2 catalyzes the final step of converting acetyl-CoA to 3-oxoacyl-CoA, a vital reaction for energy production and metabolic regulation. ACAA2′s importance lies in maintaining cellular energy homeostasis, particularly in tissues with high energy demands such as the liver and muscle. Notably, ACAA2 features a unique N-terminal targeting signal that remains non-cleavable, distinguishing ACAA2 from other mitochondrial proteins and ensuring proper localization and function. With a high degree of conservation, human ACAA2 shares 86.6% amino acid identity with rat ACAA2, underscoring the evolutionary significance of this enzyme across species.

What does the 192 after the antibody mean

Asked by: xiao
Thank you for your question. It is the clone number of the antibody, which is mostly randomly coded and does not have any particular significance.

Can sc-100847: ACAA2 (192) monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

Asked by: cjMara
Thank you for your question. Yes, sc-100847: ACAA2 (192) is recommended for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
