SEE ALSO...

Abi-2 Antibody (B-3) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Abi-2 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Abi-2 (B-3) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Abi-2 protein plays a crucial role in cellular signaling pathways, particularly in the context of the Abelson oncogene, which was first identified as a viral transforming agent in Abelson murine leukemia virus. The Abelson gene (ABL1) encodes a tyrosine kinase essential for mitogenic signaling following growth factor receptor activation. Abi-2, along with Abi-1, contains SH3 domains that interact with proline-rich motifs of the Abl protein, enhancing kinase activity. This interaction regulates cell growth and transformation, as both Abi-1 and Abi-2 act as negative regulators in these processes. Abi proteins modulate actin polymerization in structures such as lamellipodia and filopodia, which are essential for cellular movement and tissue remodeling. Understanding Abi-2 function and interactions helps elucidate its role in cancer biology and potential therapeutic targets.
