Synaptoporin Antibody (C-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects Synaptoporin protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Synaptoporin antibody (C-9) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Synaptoporin, also known as synaptophysin 2, plays a crucial role in synaptic vesicle recycling, which is essential for neurotransmitter release and communication between neurons. Located in the membrane of small synaptic vesicles, Synaptoporin is a member of the synaptophysin/synaptobrevin family and shares high homology with Synaptophysin 1. Both proteins feature four transmembrane domains and a short cytoplasmic tail, which is significant for their function in vesicle formation and trafficking. Additionally, Synaptoporin contains a MARVEL domain, a membrane-associating domain that is important for lipid interactions, and exhibits calcium-binding activity that may be localized to its cytoplasmic tail. This calcium-binding capability is vital for the regulation of synaptic vesicle dynamics, as Synaptoporin influences the interaction with other proteins such as syntaphilin and synaptophysin, which together modulate the assembly and secretion of synaptic vesicles.
