    SEE ALSO...

MTO1 Antibody (H-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects MTO1 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). MTO1 Antibody (H-5) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. MTO1, also known as mitochondrial translation optimization 1 or CGI-02, is a 717 amino acid mitochondrial protein that plays a crucial role in mitochondrial tRNA modification, specifically in the 5-carboxymethylaminomethyl modification of wobble uridine bases. This modification is essential for accurate translation of mitochondrial mRNA, which is vital for proper functioning of mitochondria, the powerhouse of the cell. MTO1 is expressed ubiquitously, with highest levels found in tissues that have elevated metabolic rates, such as heart and skeletal muscle. MTO1 is implicated in expression of aminoglycoside-induced and non-syndromic deafness phenotypes associated with mutations in 12S rRNA gene, indicating potential involvement in pathogenesis of these hearing disorders. Additionally, MTO1 exists as multiple isoforms produced by alternative splicing, which may contribute to diverse functional roles in cellular metabolism and disease.
