MafA Antibody (F-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgM antibody that detects MafA protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). MafA (F-6) antibody is available as the non-conjugated form. MafA protein, a member of the bZIP transcription factor family, plays a pivotal role in the differentiation and regulation of pancreatic β-cells, where MafA acts as a transcriptional activator essential for insulin gene expression. Specifically, MafA protein binds to the insulin enhancer element RIPE3b, facilitating the glucose-responsive expression of insulin, which is crucial for maintaining glucose homeostasis in the body. MafA protein′s importance extends beyond insulin production; MafA is also involved in the development of pancreatic β-cells and their functional maturation. Notably, MafA protein size can vary in mammalian cell lines due to post-translational modifications, which can influence activity and stability, making the study of these modifications vital for understanding regulatory mechanisms.
