SEE ALSO...

BPDE-DNA Antibody (5D11) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects BPDE-DNA by immunofluorescence (IF) and immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP). Anti-BPDE-DNA antibody (5D11) is available in both non-conjugated and multiple conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and various Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Benzopyrene-7,8-diol-9,10-epoxide (BPDE) is a potent mutagen and carcinogen derived from the incomplete combustion of organic materials, commonly found in coal tar, tobacco smoke, and charbroiled foods. The significance of BPDE lies in its ability to form covalent bonds with DNA, particularly at the N2 position of guanine nucleobases, leading to DNA intercalation and distortion. This interaction can result in increased micronuclei formation and apoptosis, contributing to the development of various cancers, especially lung cancer. Understanding the mechanisms of BPDE′s action is crucial for developing strategies to mitigate its harmful effects and for advancing cancer research.
