Inhibition of RSV primarily targets key viral components involved in viral entry, replication, and assembly. Various strategies have been explored to inhibit RSV infection, including the development of antiviral agents targeting viral proteins such as the fusion (F) protein, attachment (G) protein, and RNA-dependent RNA polymerase. Inhibition of the fusion process, either by blocking the interaction between the viral fusion protein and host cell receptors or by impeding the conformational changes necessary for membrane fusion, represents a promising approach to inhibit viral entry and subsequent infection.
