SEE ALSO...

TRAP-α Antibody (C-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects TRAP-alpha of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). TRAP-α Antibody (C-8) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. TRAP-alpha, also known as SSR1, plays a crucial role in the translocon-associated protein complex, which is essential for proper endoplasmic reticulum (ER) functioning. TRAP-alpha is primarily located in the ER membrane, where TRAP-alpha is involved in ER resident protein retention and protein translocation regulation across the ER membrane via association with the Sec61 translocon. TRAP-alpha contributes to maintaining cellular homeostasis and protein quality control, particularly during ER stress, when TRAP-alpha is upregulated through the XBP-1/IRE1α pathway to facilitate ER-associated degradation (ERAD). The TRAP complex, which includes TRAP-α, TRAP-β, TRAP-γ, and TRAP-δ, ensures that only properly folded proteins exit the ER, thereby preventing misfolded protein accumulation that can lead to cellular dysfunction and disease.

Can TRAP-α (C-8): sc-373916 monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

Asked by: AbPolly
Thank you for your question. Yes, TRAP-α (C-8): sc-373916 has been validated for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
