PMP22 Antibody (B-6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects PMP22 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). PMP22, or peripheral myelin protein 22, is a crucial growth-regulated membrane protein predominantly expressed by Schwann cells, where PMP22 plays a vital role in the formation and maintenance of compact myelin in the peripheral nervous system. PMP22 is essential for proper functioning of peripheral nerves, as PMP22 contributes to the structural integrity of the myelin sheath, which insulates nerve fibers and facilitates efficient signal transmission. Mutations in the PMP22 gene, located on human chromosome 17p11.2, are associated with several neuropathies, including Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease and hereditary neuropathy with liability to pressure palsies, highlighting PMP22′s importance in both health and disease. Anti-PMP22 antibody (B-6) is an invaluable tool for researchers studying myelin-related disorders and the underlying mechanisms of peripheral nerve function.
