KIR3DL1 Antibody (C-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects KIR3DL1 in human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). KIR3DL1 plays a crucial role in the immune response by regulating the activity of natural killer (NK) cells, which are essential for the body′s defense against tumors and virally infected cells. This receptor specifically recognizes human leukocyte antigen (HLA) class I molecules, particularly those with the Bw4 allele, and transmits inhibitory signals that prevent NK cell-mediated cytotoxicity, thereby maintaining a balance between activation and inhibition of immune responses. KIR3DL1 is a type I transmembrane protein composed of 444 amino acids and features three immunoglobulin-like C2-type domains, which are vital for interaction with HLA molecules. Proper functioning of KIR3DL1 is important for preventing excessive immune activation that could lead to tissue damage, making KIR3DL1 a significant factor in both immune regulation and potential therapeutic targets in various diseases. Human KIR3DL1 is located on chromosome 19q13.4, highlighting genetic significance in the context of immune system function and disease susceptibility.
