sc-8002 is not in the mouse tissues, I tried so hard with different antigen retrieval conditions, for both paraffin and cryosections on the mouse mammary gland. Really headache that SC542 is not available anymore.

Thank you for your question. The ERα Antibody (F-10): sc-8002 is specific for an epitope mapping between amino acids 576-595 at the C-terminus of ERα of human origin and it is recommended for detection of ERα of human origin by WB, IP, IF, IHC(P) and ELISA. We do not recommend this antibody for detection of its epitope in murine samples. Hi Santa Cruz Biotechnology representative, I have an ERalpha (D-4) sc-514910 that I bought in 2016. I don't see it listed on the website and I was wondering if there is a reason for this.

Dear Santa Cruz, Why was the very good antibody against the ER-alpha receptor SC-542 discontinued ?? Look at the reference list how many studies were published with this antibody. I also worked with the antibody (cf. Kruijver et al., 2002 JCN). Sincerely

Thank you for your question. All our polyclonal antibodies have been discontinued, we are now monoclonal specific. We offer many excellent ER-alpha specific monoclonal antibodies that are fine alternatives to sc-542, such as sc-8002, sc-787 and sc-8005. Hi, I am wondering if you guys still have the old stock of sc-542 antibody that used to be 200ug/ml? I find that that one works better for my experiments. Please let me know whether I can purchase the old stock. Thank you! Yichen

Thank you for your question. We have completely switched over all of our stock of this rabbit polyclonal, ERalpha Antibody (MC-20): sc-542 to the new concentration of 100 µg/ml. The difference in antibody performance you are experiencing may be more related to the lot number of the product, rather than the concentration. This is a rabbit polyclonal antibody and new lots are purified from different host animals. As a result, it is typical to observe variation between different lots. And each new lot must be optimized. Please note that sc-542 is going to be discontinued at the end of this year. We recommend you try one of our suggested replacement mouse monoclonal antibodies against ERalpha. Please contact our Technical Service Department and we can send you a free sample to test of the best antibody for your research needs.
