DARPP-32 Antibody (F-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects DARPP-32 in mouse, rat, and human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). DARPP-32, or dopamine and adenosine 3′,5′-monophosphate-regulated phosphoprotein, plays a crucial role in dopaminergic signaling pathways, which are vital for numerous brain functions and are often disrupted in neurological disorders such as schizophrenia and Parkinson′s disease. DARPP-32 is primarily located in the cytoplasm of neurons that receive dopaminergic input, where DARPP-32 acts as a key integrator of dopamine signaling. The localization of DARPP-32 allows for rapid responses to dopamine, facilitating the modulation of downstream signaling pathways that influence neuronal excitability and synaptic plasticity. Upon activation of D1-like receptors, DARPP-32 undergoes phosphorylation, which enhances DARPP-32′s ability to inhibit protein phosphatase 1 (PP-1), thereby regulating the phosphorylation state of various target proteins involved in neurotransmission. Conversely, activation of D2-like receptors leads to the dephosphorylation of DARPP-32, highlighting DARPP-32′s role as a molecular switch in the dopaminergic system. I am using DARPP-32 (F-2): sc-398144 monoclonal antibody to stain paraffin embedded tissue. Do you recommend antigen retrieval when using this antibody?
