Ataxin-1 Antibody (B-3) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects Ataxin-1 in mouse and rat samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Ataxin-1, also known as spinocerebellar ataxia type 1 protein, plays a crucial role in regulating gene expression and cellular signaling pathways, particularly in neuronal function. Ataxin-1 is vital for maintaining neuronal health, as mutations in Ataxin-1 are linked to spinocerebellar ataxia type 1 (SCA-1), which leads to progressive neuronal loss, muscle wasting, and ataxia. Ataxin-1 is predominantly localized in the cytoplasm and nucleus of Purkinje cells, where Ataxin-1 interacts with other critical proteins such as Purkinje-enriched leucine-rich acidic nuclear protein (LANP) and promyelocytic leukemia protein (PML). In SCA-1, Ataxin-1 undergoes a mutation resulting in a polyglutamine expansion, leading to toxic nuclear aggregates that disrupt normal cellular functions and exacerbate disease pathology. Anti-Ataxin-1 antibody (B-3) serves as an essential tool for researchers studying molecular mechanisms underlying SCA-1 and Ataxin-1′s role in neuronal health.
