Iba1 Antibody (1022-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects Iba1 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and flow cytometry (FCM). Iba1 (1022-5) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Iba1 protein, also known as ionized calcium-binding adapter molecule 1 or allograft inflammatory factor-1, is a 147 amino acid cytoplasmic protein that plays a crucial role in macrophage activation and function, making Iba1 significant in immune responses and neuroinflammation. Structurally, Iba1 contains two EF-hand domains that facilitate calcium binding, which is essential for function in cellular signaling pathways. Upon stimulation by cytokines and interferons, Iba1 translocates from initial colocalization with actin to lamellipodia, highlighting a dynamic role in cellular responses to injury. Additionally, Iba1 serves as a marker for human microglia and is expressed by macrophages in injured skeletal muscle, indicating importance in both the central nervous system and peripheral tissues. The gene encoding Iba1 is located on chromosome 6p21.33 within the tumor necrosis factor gene cluster, which is part of the human major histocompatibility complex region, further underscoring relevance in immune regulation and disease processes.
