SEE ALSO...

Elastin Antibody (A-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects elastin in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-elastin antibody (A-8) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Elastin plays a crucial role in the extracellular matrix, primarily found in connective tissues, where elastin provides elasticity and resilience, allowing tissues to stretch and return to their original shape. This property is particularly important in structures that undergo frequent deformation, such as blood vessels, lungs, and skin. The unique structure of elastin, characterized by a high content of glycine, proline, and hydrophobic residues, enables elastin to form a rubber-like network through lysine-derived crosslinks, including desmosines. These crosslinks are vital for maintaining tissue elasticity; however, as individuals age, the cross-linking of collagen with elastin can lead to decreased tissue elasticity, contributing to age-related disorders. Furthermore, deficiencies in elastin are linked to various health conditions, including supravalvular aortic stenosis and Williams-Beuren syndrome, highlighting elastin′s significance in vascular health and development. The human elastin gene is located on chromosome 7q11.23, underscoring elastin′s genetic importance in the context of these disorders.

Can the peptide sc-374638 P be used as a positive control in Western Blot?

Asked by: AbPolly
Thank you for your question. The blocking peptide sc-374638 P is a short synthetic peptide intended for use as a negative control. It is not appropriate for use as a positive control in Western Blot.
