AMPKβ2 Antibody (C-7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects AMPK beta 2 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-AMPKβ2 antibody (C-7) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. AMPK beta 2 protein plays a crucial role in cellular energy homeostasis as part of the heterotrimeric AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) complex, which consists of a catalytic alpha subunit and regulatory beta and gamma subunits. AMPK beta 2 protein is primarily located in the cytoplasm and is essential for sensing cellular energy levels, becoming activated in response to increased AMP and decreased ATP levels, thereby promoting energy conservation by inhibiting ATP-consuming processes. AMPK beta 2′s cellular location enables rapid response to metabolic stress, allowing for immediate adjustments in energy expenditure and synthesis. Upon activation, AMPK beta 2 phosphorylates key regulatory enzymes such as hydroxy-methylglutaryl-CoA reductase and acetyl-CoA carboxylase, which are vital for lipid metabolism and cholesterol synthesis. Human AMPKβ2 gene encodes a 272 amino acid protein, and proper function is critical for maintaining metabolic balance and preventing conditions such as obesity and type 2 diabetes.
