OATP-A Antibody (E-7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects OATP-A of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). OATP-A (E-7) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. The organic anion transporting polypeptide OATP-A, also known as OATP1, OATP1A2, and SLC21A3, plays a crucial role in the hepatic uptake of various anionic steroid conjugates, such as dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate and estradiol-17-glucuronide, which are essential for maintaining hormonal balance and metabolic processes. OATP-A is primarily expressed in the liver and kidney, facilitating sodium-independent transport of these compounds, which is vital for their biological activity and elimination from the body. Notably, OATP-A′s interaction with other proteins, such as OATP-C, highlights its importance in the transport of cardiac glycosides and other substrates, underscoring its role in drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics. The expression of OATP-C is inducible by certain compounds, which can affect the liver′s capacity to extract cardiac glycosides from plasma, further illustrating the functional interplay between these transport proteins. Anti-OATP-A antibody (E-7) is therefore an invaluable tool for researchers studying the dynamics of organic anion transport and its implications in health and disease.
