LMP2 Antibody (B-1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG3 antibody that detects LMP2 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). LMP2 is a crucial component of the proteasome, a multicatalytic proteinase complex that plays a vital role in the degradation of ubiquitinated proteins, thereby regulating various cellular processes including the cell cycle, apoptosis, and antigen presentation. The proteasome is located in both the nucleus and cytoplasm, where LMP2 maintains cellular homeostasis by removing damaged or misfolded proteins. LMP2 is expressed in two alternatively spliced forms, LMP2.l and LMP2.s, which can influence proteasome functionality and interaction with the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class I antigen-processing pathway. Upon stimulation with interferon-gamma, LMP2 can replace housekeeping subunits in the proteasome, enhancing the activation of cytotoxic T cells, which is essential for an effective immune response. LMP2′s ability to form complexes with other proteasome subunits underscores its significance in the immune system and potential as a target for therapeutic interventions in diseases where proteasome function is compromised.
