Glut4 Antibody (IF8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody raised against partially purified vesicles containing Glut4 from rat adipocytes, with reactivity in mouse, rat, and human species. Anti-Glut4 antibody (IF8) is validated for applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP). Glut4, also known as Glucose Transporter Type 4 or SLC2A4, is a 12-pass transmembrane protein responsible for insulin-regulated glucose uptake in adipose and muscle tissues. Glut4 translocates from intracellular storage vesicles to the plasma membrane in response to insulin, facilitating glucose entry into cells. Unlike Glut1, which is constitutively present at the plasma membrane, Glut4′s dynamic regulation is essential for adapting to varying metabolic demands. This function maintains energy balance, and disruptions in Glut4 expression or trafficking are linked to metabolic disorders like obesity and type 2 diabetes. Studies in Glut4 knockout mice demonstrate essential roles in growth, glucose metabolism, fat storage, and overall longevity. Anti-Glut4 antibody (IF8) serves as a valuable tool for exploring mechanisms of glucose regulation, insulin signaling, and related metabolic pathways in health and disease contexts.
