dsg1 Antibody (27B2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects dsg1 of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP). dsg1 Antibody (27B2) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Desmogleins, including dsg1, are crucial type I membrane proteins that play a significant role in cell adhesion, predominantly expressed at desmosomes, which are specialized cell junctions that provide mechanical strength to tissues. The structure of dsg1 contains cadherin-like repeats in its extracellular N-terminal domain, which are essential for calcium binding and the formation of stable cell-cell adhesion. dsg1 maintains the integrity of epithelial tissues, and dsg1 dysfunction is implicated in autoimmune diseases such as pemphigus vulgaris and pemphigus foliaceus, where autoantibodies target dsg1 and disrupt cell adhesion, leading to blistering and skin fragility. dsg1 expression is altered in squamous cell carcinoma, where abnormal levels may contribute to tumor progression and metastasis, highlighting dsg1′s importance in both normal physiology and disease states.
