SEE ALSO...

Desmin Antibody (10H7D2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects Desmin in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry. Desmin is a crucial intermediate filament protein that plays a vital role in maintaining the structural integrity and function of muscle cells. Anti-Desmin antibody (10H7D2) recognizes protein located near the Z line in sarcomeres, where Desmin forms a network connecting adjacent myofibrils, facilitating the transmission of mechanical forces during muscle contraction. This structural organization is essential for muscle function, ensuring contractile elements of muscle fibers work in a coordinated manner. Desmin′s interactions with other proteins, such as dystrophin and various membrane-associated proteins, are critical for stability and integrity of muscle cell architecture. Mutations in the gene encoding Desmin can lead to severe muscle disorders, including adult-onset skeletal myopathy, highlighting Desmin′s importance in muscle health and disease. Desmin monoclonal antibody (10H7D2) serves as an invaluable tool for researchers studying muscle biology and related pathologies, providing insights into Desmin′s role in both normal physiology and disease states.

I am using Desmin (10H7D2): sc-65983 monoclonal antibody to stain paraffin embedded tissue. Do you recommend antigen retrieval when using this antibody?

Asked by: cjMara
We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
