CD13 Antibody (B-F10) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects CD13 in human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and flow cytometry (FCM). CD13, also known as aminopeptidase N, is a type II transmembrane glycoprotein predominantly expressed on myeloid cells, including monocytes, basophils, eosinophils, neutrophils, and various myeloid leukemias, as well as on certain epithelial cells, fibroblasts, and osteoclasts. CD13 functions as a zinc-binding metalloprotease, playing a crucial role in the digestion of peptides and the inactivation of regulatory peptides like enkephalins, which are important for pain modulation and stress response. CD13 presence is significant in cancer biology, as CD13 may enhance the invasive capacity and metastatic behavior of cancer cells, making CD13 a potential target for therapeutic intervention. Notably, CD13 activity can be inhibited by specific compounds that induce apoptosis in CD13-positive cancer cells, highlighting CD13′s role in tumor progression. Furthermore, basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) expression has been shown to upregulate CD13 in human melanoma cells by activating both the myeloid and epithelial CD13 promoters, indicating a complex regulatory mechanism that could be exploited for cancer treatment strategies.
