HMG-2L1 Antibody (2420C1a) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects HMG-2L1 in mouse, rat, and human samples through western blotting (WB) and immunoprecipitation (IP) applications. HMG-2L1, also known as High mobility group protein 2-like 1 or HMGBCG, is a crucial member of the high mobility group (HMG) chromosomal protein superfamily, characterized by its single HMG box DNA binding domain. This unique structure allows HMG-2L1 to interact specifically with AT-rich DNA sequences, facilitating significant alterations in DNA architecture, such as bending and unwinding of the helix. These structural changes are vital for the regulation of transcription, as HMG-2L1 collaborates with various transcription factors, including Oct-2 and members of the NFkB family, to enhance gene expression. HMG-2L1 predominantly occurs in the nucleus, where HMG-2L1 plays a pivotal role in transcriptional regulation, making HMG-2L1 an important target for studies related to gene expression and chromatin dynamics. With an ability to bind DNA and influence transcriptional activity, HMG-2L1 is essential for understanding cellular processes and the molecular mechanisms underlying various biological functions.
