    SEE ALSO...

GlyT2 Antibody (B-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects GlyT2 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). GlyT2 (B-4) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. GlyT2, a member of the Na+/Cl- dependent neurotransmitter transporter superfamily, plays a critical role in terminating neurotransmission at glycinergic synapses, which is essential for maintaining the balance of excitatory and inhibitory signals in the central nervous system. GlyT2 is primarily localized in the gray matter of the brain and spinal cord, as well as in peripheral tissues such as macrophages and mast cells, highlighting GlyT2′s importance in both central and peripheral signaling pathways. The unique expression pattern of GlyT2, in contrast to GlyT1, which is restricted to the white matter of the central nervous system, suggests that glycine may function not only as a neurotransmitter but also as a chemical messenger outside the central nervous system, potentially influencing various physiological processes. Understanding the distribution and function of GlyT2 is vital for elucidating GlyT2′s role in neurophysiology and implications in neurological disorders.
